Liverpool defender target Fábio Coentrão has had a £25 million price tag placed on his head.

The Portuguese international has been heavily linked with a move away from Benfica, with Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish thought to be one of the managers interested in bringing the player to England.

Coentrão himself has previously expressed a desire to ply his trade at Anfield, expressing his admiration for the Merseysiders last month when they were linked with a move.

“I love Liverpool,” the full back was re-quoted as saying on Live4Liverpool.

Manchester United are also thought to be keen on the player, with Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly monitoring the 22-year-old for several season now as his stock rises at the Portuguese Liga champions.

Well that is one way to force a transfer! Fabio Coentrao is thought to be one of the best left wing-backs in Europe and the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United are said to be interested in procuring the 22 year old Benfica man but does Fabio ‘love’ those clubs as well?

Liverpool Director of Football Damien Comolli is known to be a big admirer of the Portuguese international who helped his side to the domestic title last term and was then one of the few bright spots in his nations fairly limp World Cup campaign last summer.

Recently Kenny Dalglish has taken to using right back Glen Johnson on the left, an experiment that has proven quite successful but the Merseyside club are almost certainly looking for a new full back as the likes of Paul Konchesky and Emiliano Insua, both currently on loan to Nottingham Forest and Galatasaray respectively, are likely to be on their way in the summer which will leave the club with veteran Fabio Aurelio as the only other left sided option
