We start today’s tittle tattle at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently a big admirer of Israeli international Biram Kayal who is plying his trade at Celtic with some aplomb. The Manchester United boss is keen to bring in some more young faces for his slightly creaky squad.

A move for the defensive midfielder is perhaps all the more relevant as Owen Hargreaves is as ever, injured. The club has a number of central midfielders with the likes of Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes all being of great use, but none of that quartet are out and out enforcers and the Bhoys star could be a decent acquisition.

Arsenal are planning a move to sign Tottenham centre back Sebastien Bassong as Arsene Wenger looks to beef up his defence due to injury concerns over Thomas Vermaelen and Sebastian Squillaci and the sometimes inconsistent performances of Johan Djourou and Laurent Koscielny, who make the up the club’s current first choice central defensive pairing.

Liverpool are chasing Newcastle full back Jose Enrique as they look likely to allow their left backs Paul Konchesky and Emiliano Insua to leave the club. Glen Johnson is currently the first choice player in what is an unaccustomed position for the right back who has been ushered out of his spot by young rising star Martin Kelly.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is going to fight Barcelona for Brazilian youngster Neymar and also has some issues with his current team selection and is apparently set to go into rotation overdrive with the likes of John Terry and Didier Drogba reportedly no longer being nailed on first team regulars.

Newcastle United are looking to sign Ipswich Town youngster Connor Wickham as Alan Pardew looks to strengthen his post Andy Carroll exit, strike-force. He has the likes of Leon Best, Peter Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi and Nile Ranger in his armoury at present but it would be fair to say that none of that quartet are exactly prolific.
