He may be a good player but is continually played out of position in midfield. The left-back is never going to get in ahead of Ashley Cole and with Patrick van Aanholt as understudy, he can be moved on. An expensive flop at £18million but not the first for Roman Abramovich.
He will never play for Chelsea even if the entire back-four goes down with the Ebola virus. He is clearly not rated despite looking reasonable in his outings for Chelsea and Wolves. Why has he not already been sold seeing as he has spent most of his Blues career on loan?
So bad even Arsene Wenger would not play him. His name may be a headline writer’s dream, especially after some very public errors, but Chelsea fans will not cry when they see him leave. No spring chicken either at 35 – time to go.
A loyal servant but too many errors undermine his occasional good performances. He lacks the pace needed at the very top level and with Ivanovic and Bosingwa available he will not be getting too many chances. He certainly has no career at centre-back.
He does score goals, although not enough, but is the most frustrating player at the club. At least one of him, Anelka and Drogba will go this summer and he is the worst of them all. He has potential but with Gael Kakuta set to return from Fulham his chances seem even more remote.
