Tottenham will fight off London rivals Arsenal to sign Ipswich boy wonder Connor Wickham in the summer.
Wickham, who will be 18 next month, is one of the country’s most sought-after youngsters. His value has soared to £15million following his first senior hat-trick in the Tractor Boys’ 6-0 demolition of Doncaster on Tuesday.

The following night Wickham was in the crowd at the Emirates Stadium for Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat of Barcelona in the Champions League.
But his most likely destination in the summer is Spurs, with boss Harry Redknapp understood to have first refusal on the powerfully built teenager.

Big hope: Wickham has already been capped at England U21 level
Ipswich owner Marcus Evans has already discussed a possible deal with his boardroom colleagues at White Hart Lane.
Last month Wickham extended his contract through to the summer of 2013 but, significantly, it features a clause that will trigger a move once a club matches the specified sum.

Harry Redknapp is very keen to refresh his attacking line up who can’t seem to score in Premier League action. Current quartet Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko are all arguably skating on thin ice and the Tottenham boss is very keen to land new recruits so it is no massive surprise that the North London side are looking into signing Ipswich Town starlet Connor Wickham.

The teenager has shown massive potential and the 17 year old is already an England Under 21 international of some promise and this season he has begun to be more deadly in front of goal and has all the makings of being a big star of the future.

Redknapp will be fighting Arsene Wenger for the youngsters signature so it will be interesting to see where the Hereford born striker decides to go as he inevitably leaves Portman Road in the near future.
