Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still very much on the look out for a new keeper and has set his sights on experienced Lyon goalie Hugo Lloris. The 24 year old Nice born custodian has been linked with interest from Old Trafford where Sir Alex Ferguson is of course looking for a replacement for retirement bound Edwin Van der Sar who will hang up his gloves at the end of the season.

Wenger has four goalies currently at his disposal but seems unconvinced with any of them in relation to being full time recipients of first team duties. The season began with the Frenchman frantically hoping to sign Fulham veteran Mark Schwarzer, with the West London club turning down their advances.

Manuel Almunia then proceeded to drop a number of clangers that saw his lose his starting spot which was then handed to Polish international Lukasz Fabianski who initially impressed but then saw his form dip somewhat before he was sidelines with a shoulder injury that then saw young Wojciech Szczesny step up the ladder and whilst the 20 year old has shown maturity in the role it seems unlikely he will be given the first choice duties quite yet.

Arsenal’s fourth choice Vito Mannone is on loan at Hull City but seemingly no nearer to getting a shot in the first team than when he impressed last term. This has led to Wenger’s interest in Lloris who is in his third season at the Stade Gerland.

£10m rated Lloris has stated that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League and could well be keen on joining his fellow French international team-mates at the Emirates Stadium.
