Manchester United are reportedly preparing a significant bid in order to beat a myriad of interested parties to the signing of Palermo’s highly rated playmaker Javier Pastore. The Argentine youngster has been in sensational form for the Serie A side and Sir Alex Ferguson has sent scouts to monitor his progress as the Old Trafford boss looks for a long term successor to veteran Paul Scholes.

Pastore is in his second season at his Sicily based side and has shown his ability to not only provide the ammunition to the club’s attackers but has also developed the ability to weigh in with his fair share of strikes to boot, something that Ferguson is keen to see the Argentine international do for Man United as he looks to bring to the club a goalscoring midfielder.

Chelsea and Man City are known to be very interested in the former Huracan man and Palermo are said to be ready to consider offers for the rangy playmaker, just as long as those offers meet their £35m valuation, a fee that would break Manchester United’s purchase record.

21 year old Pastore has shown great potential and whilst some may baulk at the club’s valuation of the well built attacking midfield but Liverpool did of course pay a similar fee for Newcastle Uniter striker Andy Carroll and the Palermo has arguably more experience at the highest levels of the game.

Javier Pastore has formed part of an irresistible attacking force at Palermo where he has worked well with Josip Ili?i?, Abel Hernández and Fabrizio Miccoli to make Delio Rossi’s side one of the most attractive sides in Serie A.

Man United were reportedly linked with moves to sign Pastore before he left Argentina for Italy and now Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to re-enter the hunt for a player who is considered one of the hottest prospects in Europe. The Scot is looking to freshen up his squad and a number of the club’s midfielders, including Michael Carrick, Darron Gibson and Owen Hargreaves, could all be offloaded this summer.
