Arsenal’s Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is reportedly attracting the interest of Hamburg to replace Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Former Real Madrid and Manchester United man Van Nistelrooy has been linked to to a number of teams including Serie A outfits AC Milan and Lazio, as well Hamburg’s German rivals Bayern Munich.
With the prospect of the veteran striker leaving the club at the end of the current campaign Hamburg are thought to be on the lookout for a replacement, with Bendtner one name said to be of interest.
Bendtner has struggled to command a regular starting role at the Emirates Stadium. He has played 22 times this season for the Gunners in all competitions, with 10 of those being from the bench. With that in mind the former FC Copenhagen man may relish the chance of a move away from North London to get his career back on track.
Bendtner, meanwhile, will be hoping to start against Birmingham, where he had a spell on loan, when the two sides meet in the in the Carling Cup on Sunday.
Maybe this summer would be the right time for Danish international Nicklas Bendtner to leave for pastures new as it seems that the 23 year old is very unlikely to ever be a first choice starter at the Emirates. A move to the Bundesliga may be the kind of challenge that appeals to the giant striker and a chance to fill Ruud van Nistelrooy’s shoes at Imtech Arena.
Currently Bendtner is the third choice striker for Arsene Wenger with Robin Van Persie and Marouane Chamakh ahead of him and much like Carlos Vela, the chances of breaking into the first team on a regular basis depends very much on whether Arsenal’s Dutch master gets his usual long term injury.
There is also reported interest in Nicklas Bendtner from Juventus and Newcastle United and the 6ft 5in forward has shown enough during his four years in the first team set-up to show that he has what it takes to be an effective attacking force.
