Aston Villa forward Ashley Young failed to offer assurances over his future at the club raising talk of a move to Liverpool or Manchester United.
The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and refuses to open negotiations until the summer.
Manager Gerard Houllier does not want Young to leave but he knows he cannot allow him to leave for nothing.
The England international was linked with moves to Manchester United and Liverpool in the past and both clubs will make new offers in the summer.
Following his man-of-the-match performance in the 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers, Young declined to comment on contract talks but promised to give everything for the Villa cause.
“I have always said I will leave talks until the end of the season and that’s how it is,” Young said in The Sun.
“Every time I pull on the shirt I go out to give 110 per cent for Villa.
“I am delighted to be playing in the position I am in, just behind the main striker, and doing well for the team.”
