Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has given his unconditional support to manager Roberto Martinez.
The Latics currently sit bottom of the Premier League, four points off safety, following one win in the last 11 games.
As a result Martinez’s future is under threat but the chairman has backed the Spaniard to avoid relegation in the final nine matches.
Wigan’s next fixture is a home tie against fellow-strugglers Birmingham City and Whelan is convinced the club will climb to safety.
“I have complete and total faith in Roberto, and the stability of the club remains total,” Whelan told the Wigan Observer.
“I have complete confidence that he will turn it round.
“I couldn’t criticise Roberto at all for the way we’re playing or the application of the lads just now.”.
He added: “We’ve got some very, very winnable matches coming up and we have to go out there and make sure we win them.
“I still think we can do it.”
