The 2011 Cheltenham Festival starts on Tuesday with the Supreme Novices Hurdle getting things underway.

While all the focus is on Cue Card to pick up the first prize of the meeting a decent shout should go to Spirit Son. The Nicky Henderson trained horse is unbeaten in three outings and is currently trading at an attractive 11-2 with Bet365. With the experienced Barry Geraghty on board, Spirit Son has the ability to get your festival off to a great start.

Medermit is the favourite for the Arkle Chase but if you think that all good things com in twos then you could be forgiven for putting a couple of quid on Geraghty’s next mount. Finians Rainbow is another from Nicky Henderson’s stable and like Spirit Son he has won his last three races. In a wide open race there are no guarantees but at 4-1 he looks decent value.

Moving on to the main race on Tuesday’s card and the big news has been the withdrawal of defending champion Binocular from the Champion Hurdle. Menorah has swiftly taken over as the most-fancied horse in the field. However, he will surely be challenged by Hurricane Fly who has notched three wins in Grade One races already this year and is our tip at 4-1 to take the crown with jockey Ruby Walsh bagging his first winner of the festival.
