Real Madrid will open contact negotiations with their highly-rated teenager Pablo Sarabia to head-off any interest from Arsenal.
The 18-year-old has starred for Madrid’s second team Castilla and was handed his first-team debut this season in a Champions League match with Auxerre.
But the La Liga giants want to tie Sarabia to a professional deal as they battle to prevent him joining a European rival.
Arsenal’s top Iberian scout Francis Cagigao, the man who first spotted Cesc Fabregas, is said to have recommended the attacking midfielder to manager Arsene Wenger.
Sarabia’s agent Gines Carvajal confirmed interest in his charge, but insists they are still to hold talks with Real’s hierarchy.
“Some clubs are looking at Sarabia and Real knows this,” Carvajal confirmed.
“The kid wants to triumph in Real and I will have a meeting with the club’s directors at the end of the season.”
