Arsenal defender Johan Djourou could be back in a few weeks as his shoulder injury is not as bad as first feared, according to the Switzerland Football Association.
The 24-year-old suffered a dislocation to his right arm in the 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United with manager Arsene Wenger claiming his season was over.
But the Swiss international underwent rigorous tests yesterday and there is hope that he could be back for his nation’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on March 26.
Djourou has suffered no fracture to the bones and the ligaments are only strained.
This raises hope he could still play a huge part in helping Arsenal win the the Premier League for the first time in seven years.
“Johan Djourou must still await the detailed assessments of exams, but it was decided to make every effort to be available to the national team on March 26 during the qualification match for Euro 2012 against the Bulgaria,” read a statement from the Swiss FA.
