Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is to turn his back on Blackburn’s £15million bid to lure him this summer in favour of a move to Germany, with Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg both keen.
Despite facing a battle to avoid relegation, Rovers’ Indian owners have grand plans for next season. Signing a marquee player remains top of their agenda.
After mooted attempts to sign the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho, Bendtner was seen as a more realistic target – but the 23-year-old Dane sees his future lying away from Ewood Park.

If indeed Borussia Dortmund are interested in £10m rated Danish international Nicklas Bendtner then Arsene Wenger could well use the faltering striker to help land one of his long term targets. Serbian international Neven Subotic is a big part of the reason that the Bundesliga title race is seemingly done and dusted.
Jürgen Klopp’s men are nine points clear at the top of the table and have conceded just 15 goals in 26 games thanks to an excellent central defensive partnership between Subotic and Mats Hummels and Arsenal boss Wenger is definitely on the look out for players who can help steady his shaky defence.
Chelsea are also said to be very interested in the player dubbed the ‘New Vidic’ but if Klopp really wants Bendtner then perhaps he can be used as a make-weight to land Subotic? Indeed Dortmund may well need other striking options as they have not been all that explosive in front of goal with the likes of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen outscoring Die Schwarzgelben.
Indeed Lucas Barrios has been left to plough a loan furrow as excellent goal scoring support has been given by the club’s midfield and another striking option would make sense.
Nicklas Bendtner appears to value a move to Dortmund far more highly than a move to Ewood Park and given that Robin Van Persie and Marouane Chamakh are ahead of the Dane in the Emirates pecking order, it is probably a good idea for the giant striker to look for pastures new, not least because Carlos Vela is also proving himself whilst on loan at West Brom and may well earn another shot at impressing Wenger as a result.
