There are a few rumours around this morning that the Ghanaian international Andre Ayew is being tracked by both Arsenal and Liverpool. It has been reported that Arsene Wenger has chosen Ayew as the natural replacement for Andre Arshavin, while Kenny Dalglish has made a winger a priority at Anfield.
Ayew is only 21 but has had a brilliant season at Marseille after coming through the ranks, and he has already got 29 caps for Ghana and was named Man of the Match against the USA at the World Cup last summer.
Ayew refuses to be fazed by the rumours though and said yesterday: “I’m not going to talk about speculation in the newspapers and websites about my future with Marseille,” he said.
“These speculations won’t affect me at all because I am only focused on doing one thing and that’s helping my club Marseille this season… I will continue to play my heart out for my club as we want to win trophies and not to concentrate on what the media is speculating.”
There is no denying that Andrei Arshavin is having a very up and down season and at times looks disinterested and devoid of ideas when on Arsenal duty and this has led to reports that the 29 year old is homesick and yearning for a return to Russia where his former club Zenit St Petersburg are reportedly willing to offer him a return to his old stamping ground.
If that move does indeed go ahead then Marseille winger Andre Ayew would be an ideal replacement for Arsene Wenger to consider. The 21 year old had to wait some time to get his chance at the Stade Velodrome after successive seasons out on loan to Lorient and Arles-Avignon but the speedy wide man has wasted no time and has become an integral part of Didier Deshamps attack.
Ayew also put in some fine displays at the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa and now the Gunners are looking to nab the £10m rated youngster as a potential replacement. Wenger clearly knows his onions when it comes to Ligue 1 talent and the pint sized winger would be a fine addition to the Emirates squad.
In other news Samir Nasri is being targeted by both Real Madrid and Barcelona and of course there is the usual speculation being churned out linking Cesc Fabregas with a move back to the Nou Camp. Nicklas Bendtner is also being chased as a trio of Bundesliga sides want to lure the Danish international to Germany with the promise of first team football that may well tempt the giant striker.
