Emirates pair linked with move to Bavaria.
Bayern Munich are the latest club to join the race for Arsenal defender Gael Clichy.
The France international’s contract expires in June 2012 and reports have recently linked him with a move away from the club.
Juventus are understood to be tracking the defender and could be ready to launch a bid in the summer.
But sources in Germany have revealed that Munich have targeted Clichy as the man to fill their troublesome left-back position. Bayern have placed Clichy at the top of their summer wish-list and will test Arsenal’s resolve with a £7m bid when the season ends.
Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in Arsenal wide man Andrei Arshavin and may look to make bid for the Russian international as well as Gael Clichy. Veteran manager Jupp Heynckes will take over at the Allianz Arena in the summer and is set to make sweeping changes and there has been much speculation that Arjen Robben may leave for AC Milan which could then lead to Frank Ribery moving to the right to accommodate the Gunners man on the left.
The 29 year old former Zenit man has had a very average season and has at times looked disinterested and even Arsene Wenger has reportedly become open to the prospect of selling Arshavin and a move back to his homeland has been touched upon.
Gael Clichy does appear to be heading for the Emirates exit after contract talks with his North London employers reportedly broke down and given that the Gunners have a ready made replacement in the form of Kieran Gibbs, such a sale would not be a huge problem for Arsenal.
