Portman Road youngster looks set for Emirates move as White Hart Lane club says he is not ready yet.
Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham could be on his way to Arsenal as Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed speculation they are after the youngster.
The 18-year-old has impressed this season in the Championship scoring seven goals in 32 games, making him one of the hottest English talents around.
The England U21 international has been linked with a move to many top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.
His club are looking for £10million up front but are more likely to be given £5million plus add on based on appearances and achievements.
Portman Road boss Paul Jewell admits he will struggle to retain the services of Wickham should he receive a ‘silly money’ offer.
But Spurs manager Harry Redknapp insists he will not be paying the money required because the teenager is not yet ready for the Premier League.
“I don’t see us paying the sort of money that Ipswich are talking about,” Redknapp said.
“He’s not someone who’d be ready to play in the first team next season. He’d be better off staying for another year.”
This opens the door for neighbours Arsenal, who were impressed by the forward’s performance when they played Ipswich in the Carling Cup this season.
