Sir Alex Ferguson ready to offer Old Trafford striker to help secure signing of White Hart Lane starlet.
Sir Alex Ferguson continues to pursue Tottenham youngster Gareth Bale and is willing to offer a player plus cash deal that he hopes will interest White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp. Manchester United are willing to make a part exchange deal that would see a North London return for striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Many reports suggest that Tottenham may need to consider offers for the Welsh international winger if they fail to secure a top four finish and Ferguson hopes to sweeten any transfer deal with the offer of a player who could be of great use to Redknapp.
Given the lack of goals scored by his club’s quartet of strikers this season a move that could see Bulgarian international return to the club he represented between 2006 and 2008 may tempt Harry Redknapp and the offer of regular first team football and a return to London in turn could lure the 30 year old front man into such a move.
Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch have managed just 13 Premier League goals for Tottenham this season whereas Dimitar Berbatov has managed to net 21 times from just 23 starts.
Berbatov is the top scorer in the Premier League this season but has found himself warming the bench at times this season with Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez clearly being a pairing that Ferguson values. The fact that at 25 and 22 years of age respectively, it would appear that the former Bayer Leverkusen man may continue to be seen as an alternative rather than a first team regular.
£35m rated Bale has had a great season this term and has been nominated for both Player and Young Player of the Year categories at the PFA awards. The likes of Inter Milan and Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the former Southampton man.
