Bernabeu hero expected a tougher test at White Hart Lane.
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says beating Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals of the Champions League was far easier than expected.
The 26-year-old scored in both legs of the 5-0 aggregate thrashing, although both shots should have been saved by goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.
Los Blancos won the first-leg at the Bernabeu 4-0 after a double from Emmanuel Adebayor and Peter Crouch was sent-off early for two bookings.
The second-leg was less action-packed as Jose Mourinho’s side won 1-0 without too much difficulty.
Madrid now progress to the semi-final where they will battle bitter rivals Barcelona, with the victor facing the winner of Schalke and Manchester United.
Ronaldo revealed he was expecting more from a Tottenham side that has won many plaudits this season for their attacking style.
“To be honest, I expected Tottenham to come at us more in the first 15 or 20 minutes,” Ronaldo said.
“We expected pressure and then when they didn’t it made it easier. They had to score so we played without pressure.”
