Tottenham to Make £40m Bid for Prolific New Strike Pairing

White Hart Lane boss ready to spend big to improve fire-power.

Tottenham Hotspur lining up £40m double summer swoop for Porto duo Hulk and Radamel Falcao
Spurs have watched the players ‘dozens’ of times and are ready to make bids to transform their strikeforce – but accept that Champions League qualification is vital to any deals

Tottenham are lining up a stunning £40 million double swoop for Porto stars Hulk and Radamel Falcao, Goal.com UK can reveal.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is desperate to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window and believes the duo could transform the Londoners’ strikeforce following a dismal season in front of goal.

Goal.com UK understands Spurs scouts have watched the Porto duo “dozens” of times in the last 18 months and they are right at the top of the club’s list of summer targets alongside Athletic Bilbao forward Fernando Llorente.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to smash the club’s transfer record, £16.5m paid for Luka Modric in 2008, to add the “one or two top players” Redknapp believes can make Spurs challenge for the Premier League title next season.

FC Porto pair Radamel Falcao and Hulk are nothing if not prolific, the pair have netted an incredible 103 goals over the past two seasons and Harry Redknapp is keen to sign the South American duo. Tottenham’s current quartet of striker have struggled this season and the White Hart Lane boss is ready to ring the changes this summer.

Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch have managed a total of just 13 Premier League goals between them this season and it is highly likely that one or possible two will be sold when the season comes to an end.

Colombian international Falcao is reportedly heavily linked with interest in Spain and Hulk has also been linked with a move away from the runaway Portuguese champions and whether they leave the Estádio do Dragão may depend a great deal on whether boss Andre Villas Boas leaves the club he led to a domestic title in his first season without losing a single game.
