White Hart Lane does not want Eastlands or Britannia Stadium clubs to be put in compromising position.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp wants the Premier League to reschedule the important fixture between Manchester City and Stoke City.
The two North-West teams were due to play on May 14 but has now been moved to the following Tuesday as they will contest the FA Cup that day.
Cynics are suggesting Stoke may allow City to win the league game if the Blues’ lift the Cup as the Potters will be relying on them to claim a Champions League spot to have any chance of securing Europa League football themselves.
Redknapp does not think Stoke would deliberately throw the game but he does not want there to be any doubt in the minds of fans.
“I’m sure (Stoke boss) Tony Pulis wouldn’t want to lose any game,” he told Sky Sports.
“But I think where there is a problem with it in other peoples eyes it certainly is a problem, and I think the timing of that would be bad, it’s a bad time to play the game.
“No one would say that Stoke wouldn’t go there and not try to win, but I just think the whole thing, it would be surrounded by people looking at it and thinking ‘what has gone on?’ if they do get beat.
