Old Trafford boss keen on White Hart Lane youngster.
Manchester United’s search for added steel for their midfield has led to Sir Alex Ferguson’s reported interest in Tottenham youngster Sandro. The young Brazilian has impressed many with his mature displays at the heart of the White Hart Lane midfield and Harry Redknapp now faces a battle to keep the determined battler at White Hart Lane.
Two expert performances against AC Milan in the Champions League have served to bring Sandro to the attention of Europe’s elite and having spent the best part of a year to bring the former Internacional man to North London it could prove a struggle to keep the 22 year old at Tottenham this summer.
As with Redknapp’s other top talents, there is a fear that failure to secure another top four finish could lead to offers being made for the likes of Rafael Van der Vaart, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, offers that could tempt the in form performers to leave in order to secure a move to a club that can guarantee genuine title challenges.
With injury prone defensive midfielder Owen Hargreaves likely to leave the club when his contract runs out this summer, Ferguson will be even more intent on bringing in a solid tackler when the transfer window re-opens. Man United have a number of central midfield options but the likes of Anderson, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes offer more offensive ability and Sandro could help add more balance to the club’s midfield.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also reportedly interested in the Tottenham man.
