Ibrox striker claims Old Trafford interest.
Rangers star Nikica Jelavic claims Manchester United are preparing a £13million swoop for his services in the summer.
The striker, who has been a revelation at Ibrox since recovering from injury in January, netting 18 goals for the Gers, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the Croatian media.
A switch to United would seem unlikely given the amount of firepower already at their disposal, with Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov in their ranks.
But Croatia international Jelavic has confirmed reports the Premier League giants are chasing his signature.
Jelavic told the Daily Record: “I know United are interested. My agent has established contact with them but that’s all I know.
“My agent has mentioned a figure of £13million and I came to Rangers for £4m so it would be a big gain for the club.”

Now it would be very odd for a footballer to make claims like these unless they were based in reality. There is no doubt that Nikica Jelavic has taken to life in the SPL very well indeed, netting 18 goals in 22 starts, but is a move to Old Trafford really on the cards? Would the Croatian stand any chance of gaining a spot in the Man United first team? Perhaps the 25 year old would be happy to be a squad player or maybe he has supreme confidence in his ability.
Sir Alex Ferguson already has the Premier League’s top-scorer, Dimitar Berbatov, warming his bench whilst he opts for the successful pairing of Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez up front. He also has Michael Owen, who may not be offered a new deal when his current contract runs out this summer, and youngster Danny Welbeck to call upon.
Jelavic has hit the big time via a odd route, starting at Hajduk Split, a stint with Waragem in Belgium and then to Austria where the talented striker did very well with Rapid Vienna, where his form in Europe attracted Rangers.
Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly looking to make significant investments in new additions as he looks to freshen up a squad that could perhaps do with an injection of more youthful players. The likes of Alexis Sanchez, Jack Rodwell and David de Gea have all been strongly linked with moves to the club.
Edwin Van der Sar will hang up his gloves this summer, Gary Neville has already called it a day and Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves are unlikely to get new deals. There are then a number of players in the Man United squad who are nearing the end of the glittering careers, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and injury plagued centre back Rio Ferdinand.
Would summer moves include a bid for the Rangers striker though?
