Stadium of Light boss will spend a big chunk of the Darren Bent fee on DW Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium stars.
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce will make a sensational £14million bid for Cardiff City’s Jay Bothroyd and Craig Bellamy as well as Wigan midfielder Charles N’Zogbia.
The Black Cats boss knows he needs to strengthen his side following the £18million transfer of Darren Bent to Aston Villa.
The striker’s departure coincided with a dramatic loss in form that saw Sunderland challenging for Europe and then fighting off relegation.
Now coupled with the loss of Danny Wellbeck returning to Manchester United, Bruce is short of attacking options.
The Daily Star reports Bruce will make use the Bent transfer fee to sign Bellamy and N’Zogbia.
But the 50-year-old will also tempt Bothroyd with the opportunity of regular first-team Premier League football.
Bruce believes signing Bellamy and Bothroyd will score enough goals to fire his team back up into the top half of the league.
He will also move for N’Zogbia having worked together while the ex-Birmingham City boss was in charge at Wigan, with the Frenchman reportedly available for £10million.
