White Hart Lane club slaps huge price tag on player attracting interest from Stadio San Paolo.
Tottenham Hotspur are asking for £15million from Napoli for midfielder Wilson Palacios but the Serie A club are only willing to pay £7million.
The 26-year-old has endured a frustrating season as he has slipped down the pecking order behind Tom Huddlestone and Sandro.
The fans have also let their frustrations with him known and manager Harry Redknapp is ready to listen to offers for the Honduras international.
Napoli had hoped to strike a deal for £7million by the weekend but Tottenham want a return on the £12m they paid to Wigan.
“The next few days will be key for my future,” Palacios said. “There are advanced negotiations but I will await news from London.”
Redknapp needs as much money as he can generate through player sales in order to fund his own spending spree.
The Spurs boss is in the market for a goalkeeper and top centre-forward to fire his team back into the Champions League.
But Redknapp faces a battle to keep hold of stars Luka Modric and Gareth Bale with Manchester United and Inter Milan both circling.
