Villa Park hit-man wants former Stamford Bridge boss.
Aston Villa striker Darren Bent wants owner Randy Lerner to bring Carlo Ancelotti to Villa Park to replace Gerard Houllier.
Villa are hunting for a new manager following the departure of the Frenchman after he was unable to prove to doctors he would had fully recovered from the poor health he suffered during the season.
Mark Hughes and Steve McClaren have both been strongly linked with the vacancy but Bent is adamant who is first choice would be.
The 27-year-old believes hiring the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss would signify a step in the right direction for the club.
“If we get Ancelotti everyone will be excited to go forward,” Bent told the Daily Star. “Of course Aston Villa have to go for managers of the calibre of Ancelotti.
“Villa are a massive football club so if we can get him it shows the direction the club is going.
“I spoke to a couple of the Chelsea guys. They thought he was brilliant. Ashley Cole said he loved him, said he was a really good manager.”
