Black Cats star will swap places with unwanted Anfield hit-man.
Sunderland have confirmed they have agreed a £20million fee for midfielder Jordan Henderson with Liverpool.
The 20-year-old will hold talks and a medical with the Anfield club today in a bid to finalise the move before he heads to Denmark for the European U21 Championships.
The deal also includes David Ngog, unwanted following the arrivals of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, moving to the Stadium of Light.
Black Cats manager Steve Bruce had repeatedly stated their highest-profile academy graduate was not for sale, but Liverpool’s mega-cash offer has persuaded them to part company.
It is expected Bruce will waste no time in spending the transfer fee with Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson high on his wanted list.
For Liverpool, the deal continues the policy of owners Fenway Sports Group, who are keen to remodel a squad to contain young, British talent.
A Sunderland spokesperson said in a statement on the club’s website: “A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield today with the club’s blessing.”
