Bloomfield Road star on verge of joining Anfield club.
Blackpool captain Charlie Adam appears to be on the verge of joining Liverpool after the two clubs began preliminary negotiations.
One of the English game’s most protracted transfer sagas appears to be nearing an end with Reds manager Kenny Dalglish keen to finally get the 25-year-old.
Liverpool had a £7million bid rejected by the Seasiders in January, who were desperate to keep hold of the midfielder to avoid relegation.
The Scotland international was their stand-out performer last season bagging 12 goals and eight assists but could not prevent them going back to the Championship on the final day of the campaign.
Blackpool value Adam at £10million but as the Scotland international is in the final 12 months of his contract the Reds hope they can reach a compromise.
Liverpool have continued their pursuit of Adam, and Blackpool chairman, Karl Oyston, has confirmed informal talks have taken place, although a new bid is yet to be lodged.
“We’ve had a few very preliminary discussions and inquiries, but nothing of any substance, so there really is nothing to report at this stage about interest from anyone,” Oyston said.
