Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the Blackpool playmaker and having seen first hand, on two occasions, Charlie Adam put in blinding performances against his Man United side, it isn’t a great surprise that the Old Trafford boss would be looking to make an offer for the former Rangers man.
Adam is certain to leave Bloomfield Road after two terrific seasons at the club and even Tangerines boss Ian Holloway has admitted that a number of his stars would more than likely leave in the summer, it is really all about whether a bidding war ensues for the club’s star performer.
Last term the 25 year old Scottish international weighed in with 12 Premier League goals and another 9 assists, a return that would have been impressive for any side let alone when performing for a team that finished second from bottom.
Ferguson is looking to bring in attack minded players who can add give Man United a goal threat from the midfield, something the likes of Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Darron Gibson and Michael Carrick do not offer. The Premier League title holders are also said to be interested in Alexis Sanchez and did reportedly have an interest in Jordan Henderson before he made his move to Liverpool.
Man United have already forked out around £17m for Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones and Ferguson plans to continue spending to help strengthen his squad. To help make way for new additions it has been reported that Sunderland may be looking to snap up Gibson, John O’Shea and Wes Brown.
Kenny Dalglish has been chasing Charlie Adam for a few months now and Liverpool were favourites to sign the Blackpool man and the Anfield boss has been handed substantial funds to help push the Merseyside club back into the top four.
