CHRIS HUGHTON is to return to football as the new Birmingham City boss.
He will replace Alex McLeish who left last week to join City’s biggest rivals Aston Villa.
Now relegated Brum will want Hughton to do for them what he did for Toon, and get them back into the Prem at the first attempt.
He was sacked in December with Toon 11th in the table and replaced by Alan Pardew.
Hughton beat ex-West Brom boss Roberto di Matteo and former West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola to land the Brum job.

Chris Hughton appears to be someone everyone likes. The former Newcastle United boss was harshly sacked by Mike Ashley despite having led the Magpies to a Championship title and had the St James’ Park side comfortably placed in mid table when he was axed.

What are the odds the former Tottenham full back takes Birmingham City back up to the top tier and is then sacked again? Sometimes it doesn’t help when you are not considered a ‘big name’ even if you have a good track record.
