White Hart Lane club edge closer to Upton Park talisman.
Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of signing West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker after selling hardman Wilson Palacios to Napoli for £12million.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been trying to raise the funds to bid for the England international and has sacrificed the Honduran to do so.
Palacios has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane following the emergence of Sandro this season. He has played 21 league games scoring no goals and creating a single assist.
The 26-year-old joined Tottenham in 2009 from Wigan for £12million and was a star performer in getting the club into the Champions League.
According to the Daily Star, Palacios’s agents have been spotted in Milan – meaning a deal could be imminent.
The majority of Napoli fee will have to be spent on acquiring Parker, with the Hammers starting the bidding for their talisman at £10million.
Tottenham will face competition for his signature, with Arsenal and Liverpool keen on the football writers player of the year.
But Parker insists he would prefer to stay in London and with Arsenal not prepared to meet the asking price for a 30-year-old, Spurs are in pole position.
