Real Madrid Plan Move to Sign Chelsea Left Back Ashley Cole

Former Stamford Bridge boss wants England international.

Real Madrid are planning a bid for Chelsea full back Ashley Cole after it emerged that new Stamford Bridge boss Andre Villas-Boas was planning a move for Benfica youngster Fabio Coentrao. Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the 30 year old England international to the Bernabeu according to AS and given that he helped bring the former Arsenal man to West London in 2006 perhaps such a move would appeal to the left back?

Cole has two years to run on a contract worth around £120k a week so a move to sign the experienced defender would not come cheap and a lot would depend on whether Blues owner Roman Abramovich is willing to sell to the former Chelsea boss.

Some sources state that Ashley Cole is interested in a move abroad before his successful career comes to an end and a move to the La Liga giants may well tempt the Londoner.

Mourinho has been strongly linked with a number of his former charges and brought Ricardo Carvalho to Madrid last summer and is anxious to improve his squad as Real look to challenge arch rivals Barcelona for the La Liga and Champions League crowns.
