Nou Camp club snub Stamford Bridge offer.
Barcelona have rejected a £27million bid for striker David Villa from Chelsea.
The Catalan giants told Spanish media a Blues official formally contacted sporting director Andobni Zubizarreta last week to table their offer.
Barca immediately told the West London club their 29-year-old was not up for sale and informed Chelsea his buyout clause was an astronomical £178million.
It is believed the Spanish and European champions are ready to listen to offers for their World Cup winner despite only signing him for £35million last summer from Valencia.
Barcelona need to raise transfer funds in order to sign their top targets of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas for a combined £90million.
Chelsea and Manchester City are both interested in Sanchez, but the Chilean has expressed his desire to move to Spain, according to the Daily Mirror.
Now both clubs are likely to make moves for Villa, who scored 23 goals in all competitions in his debut season at the Nou Camp.
It appears highly unlikely that either club will match his buyout clause but Barcelona will be looking to make a profit on their Spain international.
