Juventus Begin Talks With Liverpool’s CSKA Moscow Target

Stadio Olimpico di Torino club begin revamp with Anfield target.

Juventus are in discussions with CSKA Moscow over midfielder Keisuke Honda, despite interest from Liverpool in the star.

The 25-year-old will meet with the Serie A giants once a transfer fee has been agreed with negotiations apparently at an advanced stage.

The Old Lady wants to use the Japan international as the spearhead in their new look team following finishing a disappointing seventh last season.

Honda enjoyed 2010 World Cup in South Africa, scoring two goals and set up another as the Blue Samurai reached the last 16 for their best ever result on foreign soil.

He was also named the most valuable player at the Asian Cup in Doha in January, when Japan lifted a record fourth continental title.

Several major English clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa were reported to have shown their interest in Honda during the Asian Cup.

But Liverpool’s interest seem to wane with boss Kenny Dalglish wanting to concentrate on buying British players, like Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam.

After four years at J-League powerhouse Nagoya Grampus and two years at Dutch club VVV Venlo, Honda joined CSKA in January 2010 and became the first Japanese to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League the same year.
