Italian star returns to Anfield.
Liverpool will welcome midfielder Alberto Aquilani back to the club and the playmaker insists he is happy to return to Merseyside.
The 26-year-old spent last season on-loan at Juventus and was expected to join the Old Lady on a permanent deal.
But the Serie A giants would not pay Liverpool’s £13million valuation for the Italy international and a deal could not be agreed.
The Reds signed Aquilani for a reported fee of £20million from Roma in 2009 and he is under contract with the club until June 2014.
His first season at the club was ruined by injuries and ex-boss Rafa Benitez’s reluctance to play him, after he was bought to replace Xabi Alonso.
Aquilani, who was also a reported target of Napoli and AC Milan, confirms he will return to England and is looking forward to playing at Anfield again.
“I return to Liverpool with great enthusiasm,” Aquilani told Sky Italia.”This is not a problem.
“It’s not true that I didn’t want to return to England.”
Juventus have now turned their attention to another Liverpool star after bidding £13.5million for midfielder Raul Meireles.
