Man City Set to Complete £28m Deal to Sign Arsenal Pair Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy

Emirates Stadium pair set for Eastlands move.

Sky Sports sources are stating that Manchester City are closing in on the £20million signing of Arsenal star Samir Nasri and Sky Sports sources also understand that Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal for Arsenal’s Gael Clichy.

Clearly there is a precedent here, just two summers ago the Eastlands side snapped up centre back Kolo Toure and striker Emmanuel Adebayor from the North London club and it appears that Roberto Mancini is set to complete another double Gunner capture.

Clearly the loss of both French internationals will greatly worry Arsene Wenger and the club’s supporters who were hoping to improve the Arsenal squad after another hugely disappointing season.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a number of players this summer but as yet have not brought in any new signings this summer and may struggle to keep captain Cesc Fabregas after the loss of such influential first team players.

Wenger has repeatedly stated that he wouldn’t sell any of his players to Premier League sides but given that both Clichy and Nasri only have a year left on their contracts and could leave for nothing in 12 months, perhaps the Gunners boss feels he has no choice other than to sell if neither players is willing to offer a new deal.

Arsenal have of course just completed six seasons without silverware and have fallen behind Man City in the top four pecking order and as such are struggling to appease their top performers.

Left back Clichy can at least be offloaded in the knowledge that the club has youngster Kieran Gibbs and Armand Traore to fill his position, Nasri however will be sorely missed. The performances from the former Marseille man were one of the few bright spots from last term.

Wenger will however gladly sell under performing Arsenal players like Manuel Almunia, Denilson, Nicklas Bendtner and Emmanuel Eboue if decent offers are forthcoming.
