Goodison Park announce latest arrival of old friend.
Everton have announced the re-signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier on a season-long loan.
The 17-year-old joined the Toffees last January on a temporary deal and helped the U18s side win the FA Premier League academy league final in May.
A new deal has been struck for a whole season this time around and Dier will hope to play a part in Everton’s first-team plans in the upcoming campaign.
Dier was born in Cheltenham, England, but moved to the Portuguese capital at the age of seven and has come through the youth ranks at Sporting.
He will join up with Everton’s pre-season preparations once he has completed the necessary paperwork and medicals.
The towering centre-back has been part of the Portuguese giants’ academy since the age of eight and reportedly attracted the interest of Manchester United before he signed professional terms with Sporting.
Meanwhile Everton have not had any enquiries about defender Phil Jagielka despite speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.
Moyes would be unwilling to sell such an important player and would prefer to sell other players to free up cash for his own transfers.
