Anfield set to battle Eastlands for star’s signature.
Liverpool will make an £8million bid for Partizan Belgrade defender Stefan Savic but will face competition from Manchester City.
The 20-year-old looked all set for a move to the Eastlands but the Reds late bid for him may change his mind.
Savic arrived in England on Monday evening ahead of a planned medical with City, whilst talks over a potential £6million deal continued.
But Liverpool have offered more money to the Serbian club in an attempt to hijack the deal and steal the Montenegro international from under City’s noses, according to Sky Sports.
Savic does seem to have his heart set on a move to the Blues as he wants to play in the Champions League and challenge for titles.
He is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe and has attracted interest from Manchester United and PSG.
Savic’s style has seen him compared to Nemanja Vidic and at his age he has plenty of time to develop and turn into one of the world’s best.
