White Hart Lane targets left out of Bernabeu pre-season plans.
Tottenham Hotspur have been given the green light to launch a £22million double raid on Real Madrid midfielders Lassana Diarra and Sergio Canales.
The news comes as Los Blancos manager Jose Mourinho has left both players out of the side’s pre-season training tour.
The pair, along with Pedro Leon, were omitted from the 25-man squad that flew to Los Angeles on Monday.
Diarra, 26, was unhappy about his lack of first-team football last season and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is happy to reunite with the player he worked with at Portsmouth.
The Frenchman was even sold by Redknapp to Real for £20million, but Tottenham will hope to pay only £12million for the services of a player who has two-years remaining on his contract.
Canales, 20, who is also a target for Arsenal, had hoped to have made more of an impact at the Bernabeu since joining from Racing Santander last year.
But his route to the team is blocked by Mesut Ozil, Kaka and others and is surplus to requirements.
Redknapp hopes to take advantage of the players frustrations and get him with a £10million bid.
Tottenham, who are in the market for a striker too, will fund the signings by offloading the fringe players, such as Wilson Palacios, David Bentley and Niko Kranjcar.
