Liverpool youngster Mavinga set for Rennes move but Cissokho not coming
Liverpool left back Chris Mavinga, 20, hopes to complete his £1million move to Rennes on Monday after the clubs agreed a fee.
However, Liverpool have distanced themselves from a move for Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho despite claims a £9.5m deal was imminent.
Lyon had been asking for £16m for the 23-year-old who has been scouted by Liverpool and Manchester City prior to their signing of Gael Clichy.

£16m would indeed be a high price to pay for Aly Cissokho and the main reason that Lyon are after such a fee is that the French international’s former club Porto are due to receive 20% of any future sales of the left back and therefore the Ligue 1 side is looking to counter that loss by asking for an inflated fee that Kenny Dalglish seems reticent to pay.
Dalglish’s search for a left back is well documented with moves for Gael Clichy, prior to his move from Arsenal to Man City, and Newcastle United’s Jose Enrique having failed to bear fruit.
Liverpool have already offloaded Paul Konchesky and have youngster Jack Robinson, Brazilian Fabio Aurelio and Glen Johnson and Danny Wilson who can also play in the left back slot. Argentine Emiliano Insua is hoping to secure a new contract at the Anfield club but Dalglish is still seemingly very keen to bring in a new first choice for the position.
Liverpool have already spent over £50m to bring Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Doni and Stewart Downing to the club and may therefore not be willing to pay over the odds for 23 year old French international Aly Cissokho.
Chris Mavinga on the other hand appears to be on his way to Rennes after two years at Liverpool. The French Under 20 international is yet to play a senior game for the club but did have a successful spell at Racing Genk where he helped the side to the Belgian title last term.
