San Siro star still on Old Trafford radar.
Italian sources state that Inter Milan are still willing to listen to offers for Dutch international Wesley Sneijder and are reportedly interested in a signing Man United pair Nani and £20m in exchange for the 27 year old playmaker.
It is unknown whether Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to consider such an offer but the Old Trafford boss has repeatedly stated his desire to bring in a replacement for recently retired midfielder Paul Scholes, which has led many to believe that Man United want Sneijder.
Many sources claim that the Premier League champion’s chief executive David Gill has been in talks with the Serie A side about a move for Wesley Sneijder but it had been widely believed that the player’s wage demands had appeared to be a stumbling block to agreement.
Inter Milan’s new boss Gian Piero Gasperini appears willing to sell Sneijder and Nerazzurri owner Massimo Moratti is also quoted at saying that he is ‘hopeful’ that the former Real Madrid and Ajax man would stay, which is hardly a strong stance on the issue and leads many to believe that the player is very much available. Indeed Inter Milan technical director Marco Branca has been quoted as stating that the player would only leave if a “mega galactic” offer was forthcoming.
Man United attacker Nani is a target the San Siro side are keen to capture and even though the Portuguese international finished as the Premier League’s top assist maker last term the 24 year old did miss out on the Champions League Final and could be sacrificed in Ferguson’s pursuit of Sneijder.
Having brought in Ashley Young and with Luis Antonio Valencia back from long term injury towards the end of the last campaign, Man United arguably have two first choice wingers and with the likes of Ryan Giggs, Ji-Sung Park and Gabriel Obertan as back up, Nani could be a player who could be used as bait to land a player who could ably fill a void that Ferguson is keen to fill.
