Emirates club closing in on Mestalla star.
Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Valencia winger Juan Mata after his manager Unai Emery admitted he will leave if they receive a good offer.
The 23-year-old has attracted a lot of interest from all over Europe after his displays in La Liga and in the U21 European Championships this summer.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as the Gunners, have all expressed interest in the Spain international.
Mata, who helped his country win the U21 tournament as well as the World Cup 12 months ago, claims to be happy Valencia and wants to remain at the Mestalla.
But Emery admits the club will have to sell if a large bid is put on the table, as the La Liga side are still in a large amount of debt.
“Valencia has to be prepared for a footballer having to leave, either because is he is not wanted or because some big club wants to sign him,” Emery told Cadena Copa.
“We want him to stay and Mata has also expressed his wish to remain at Valencia, but we know that if a big-money offer comes in from any club and it’s good for both the player and the club, it could lead to his exit.”
