Goodison Park club determined to hang onto star.
Everton have rejected a £10million bid from Arsenal for defender Phil Jagielka and seem determined to hang onto their star.
The 28-year-old has been on the radar of the north London club for some time and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger tried to sign him 12 months ago for £12million.
A new offer was formally submitted earlier today but the Toffee’s do not want to lose the England international and rejected the offer straight away.
The Merseyside club view the bid as being well below the player’s market value, around £20million, particularly as the defender signed a new four-year contract in March.
Everton boss David Moyes is aware he will have to sell before he can buy but does not want to lose one of his better players.
Arsenal have also been linked with Bolton centre-back Gary Cahill but refuses to pay £17million for a centre-back with only one-year remaining on his contract.
Blackburn’s Chris Samba and Birmingham City’s Scott Dann are have both attracted Wenger and the Frenchman could well explore those options.
