With the U-20 World Cup in Colombia beginning on the 29th of July, here is a list of potential stars of this tournament and the future.
Adrian Luna and Federico Rodriguez (Uruguay):
These two forwards will adopt the positions held by Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez during the 2007 U-20 World Cup. That team only managed to reach the round of 16, so despite their astronomical rise in recent years, there is not too much pressure on them to lead the nation to success. They will hope to continue the resurgence of Uruguayan football since the World Cup in South Africa. The senior side reached the Semi’s of that tournament and are now into the final of this year’s Copa America. Coupled with the terrific run of Penarol in the Copa Libertadores, Luna and Rodriguez – of Espanyol and Bologna (Co-owned by Genoa) respectively – will hope that their goals will provide the ammunition for the U-20 squad to emulate the form of the senior team.
