Old Trafford boss ready to make offer for Brazilian international.
Man United are considering making an offer for Brazilian midfielder Ganso as Sir Alex Ferguson continues to plan for the future. The rangy attacking midfielder has been strongly linked with an exit from Santos this summer, having helped his side to a Copa Libertadores triumph last month.
Ferguson has reportedly been scouting the 21 year old for the past year and having seen his club and national team-mate Neymar linked with a move to Europe, the Scot is apparently plotting an offer for the talented youngster.
Having seen a number of his old guard bow out over the past year, with the likes of Edwin van der Sar, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville hanging up their gloves and boots respectively, Ferguson has been looking to bring in the best young talent to help place alongside those coming through the club’s youth and academy teams.
To that end David de Gea and Phil Jones were brought in this summer and loaned out players Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck will be brought back to make more of an impact in the Old Trafford first team picture.
Ganso could add more creativity and attacking intent to the Man United midfield as current central options like Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Michael Carrick and Darron Gibson do not offer much of a goal threat. This has led to speculation that Ferguson is interested in Wesley Sniejder, Luka Modric and Samir Nasri, whereas a move for Ganso would be a more longer term alternative to those captures.
Ganso has netted 26 goals in 110 matches for Santos, helping his side to domestic and continental success and is now a regular part of the Brazilian national team set-up.
Santos are thought be expecting at least £25m for one of their prized assets and Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be ready to make just such an offer, especially as his pursuit of targets Nasri, Modric and Sneijder appears to have run cold.
