Old Trafford boss looks to bring in trio of Samba Stars.
Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is once again looking to bring the best up and coming players produced in Brazil to help build his next generation of Old Trafford talent.
Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Flamengo whiz Adryan and have reportedly made a move for Sao Paulo starlet Lucas.
Brazil international Lucas has been tipped as a star of the future and his representative, Wagner Ribeiro, claims United and Bayern Munich have shown interest in the past.
Ribeiro told Terra: “Lucas was approached earlier this year by Manchester United and Bayern Munich”.
Sir Alex Ferguson is clearly known for his luring of Brazil’s best young talent to Old Trafford having brought the likes of Anderson and the Da Silva twins Rafael and Fabio and now the club’s South American scouting network have earmarked moves for three of the best up and coming talents the country has to offer.
Ganso is the third of this trio and the most established player of the group and the Santos star has been linked with a move to Europe, a move that will become all the more likely if his team-mate Neymar secures his much anticipated move to Real Madrid this summer.
The rangy 20 year old attacking midfielder is already a regular in the senior national team set up and helped his Santos side to a Copa Libertadores triumph last month and could be just the type of player Ferguson turns to as he looks to bring in a goal scoring creative midfielder to take over from Paul Scholes, who was clearly a much more attacking player during his pomp than in recent seasons.
Ferguson has been linked with moves for Luka Modric, Wesley Sneijder and Samir Nasri as he looks for just such a player but the Scot may look to Ganso if moves for these older players fail to materialise.
Flamengo ace Adryan is a 16 year old attacking midfielder who is considered one of the hottest prospects in Brazil, having scored 8 times in 14 matches for the Under 17 international side. The pint sized Rio born starlet is also being tracked by Barcelona, which is clearly a sign that the youngster has a bright future.
Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas is already at 18, a regular in his club side and has notched up four full Brazilian caps and was named on FIFA’s Players to Watch in 2011 and has already been subject of a tentative approach by the Premier League champions.
Sir Alex Ferguson is clearly planning for the future, having seen three of his veterans bow out in recent months, Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and the likes of Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand may also be nearing the end of their glittering careers.
The Man United boss has also started to streamline his squad with a view to removing some of his elder squad players, like John O’Shea and Wes Brown, with a view to giving his younger players more of a look in. Over the past 18 months Ferguson has added to the young talent coming through the club’s academy by bringing in talented youngsters likes Javier Hernandez, Chris Smalling, David de Gea and Phil Jones.
This Brazilian trio have a combined valuation of around £35m with Ganso believed to have an asking price of around £25m, and whilst Ferguson may not make a move to sign all three he appears to be greatly interested in monitoring their ongoing development with a view to making a swoop in the near future.
