Arsene Wenger has more pressing transfer business occupying his mind at the moment as he looks to complete a £17.5million swoop for Valencia midfielder Juan Mata this week.
An offer has gone in to the Spanish club and the Gunners hope Mata can fly to London this week to finalise a move.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are still negotiating with Everton over an improved £15m offer for central defender Phil Jagielka. The Gunners have already had a £12m offer snubbed by the Toffees this summer.

Arsene Wenger has had a tough time of it this summer. Constant speculation about the futures of top performers Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, the departure of Gael Clichy to Man City and a fairly average pre-season performance wise have left the Gunners boss looking like a forlorn character but now the Frenchman desperately wants to bring in further additions.

Having brought in Carl Jenkinson and Gervinho from Charlton Athletic and Lille respectively, it would be fair to state that things have been a bit quiet on the incoming transfer front and now the Arsenal boss wants to get the ball rolling.

There appears to be a very real need to bring in central defensive options to help beef up a backline that looks very dodgy. Last summer Wenger brought in Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci and neither signing adapted too well to life in the English top tier. Moves to bring in Phil Jagielka from Everton appear to be gathering momentum and the 28 year old would certainly help matters at the back.

Juan Mata is also apparently in talks to join Arsenal and whilst it is true that Arsenal have a number of attacking options, the Spaniard is in the best form of his career and could well be a great addition and perhaps his potential arrival is intended to nullify the likely departure of Samir Nasri next summer, when his contract expires.

Arsenal are likely to allow Manuel Almunia and Nicklas Bendtner to leave the moment reasonable offers come in for the pair.
