Nou Camp club must think again to take Emirates star.
Arsenal have rejected a £35million bid from Barcelona for captain Cesc Fabregas.
The Gunners are holding out for £40million for the 24-year-old and refuse to be bullied by the Spanish and European champions.
The Spain international has been the centre of the transfer saga which stretches back 18 months and is now coming to a crucial point.
Barca’s bid included £29million up front with £6million in add-ons but Arsenal will not budge from their price tag.
Fabregas is now back in full training with the rest of the Gunners squad after being withdrawn from the pre-season preparations due to injury and a poor attitude.
He is expected to play some part in Arsenal’s final warm-up game against Benfica tomorrow and could play in the Premier league opener against Newcastle.
A key date for a deal to be completed by is August 16. This is when the Gunners will play in the Champions League qualifier and if Fabregas plays, he will be cup-tied should he move to the Nou Camp.
Arsenal were spared the embarrassment of taking two squad pictures yesterday by the weather, but Fabregas still took his individual shots for the Premier League and Sky Sports.
