Costa Rica star on his way to White Hart Lane?
Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about FC Twente striker Bryan Ruiz as they continue their search for more firepower.
The 25-year-old is the latest player to be linked with a move to Spurs after negotiations with Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente have stalled.
The Costa Rica international, with 25 caps under his belt, has a release clause of £13.75m which would see him moving on.
Redknapp has been looking for a hit-man since January but has seen bids for Giuseppe Rossi, Leandro Damiao and Diego Forlan all fail.
Ruiz admits there has been contact from the Tottenham board but is unsure whether a move will materialise.
‘They have approached my agent,” Ruiz said. “I was told about Tottenham’s interest two days ago.
“Spurs are a great club. I’d say that the chance that I’ll leave Twente is 50 per cent.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham are concerned their Premier League opener with Everton may be postponed due to the riots in the surrounding area.
The club’s Park Lane ticket office was attacked during the violence that saw buildings and cars being set alight.
The Spurs Megastore was closed and the ticket office in Park Lane, to the south of the ground, will not open until Wednesday.
The club intend to operate a counter service from the matchday ticket windows in Paxton Road between 9.30am and 5pm on Monday and Tuesday.
