Stamford Bridge to make move for Brazilian starlet.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to meet Santos’ buyout clause for Neymar.
The Daily Star Sunday says he ready to stun Real Madrid by giving Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas £40million to spend on Brazilian wonderkid Neymar.
Spanish giants Madrid were favourites to land the Samba starlet but have stalled on forking out the huge fee, which would trigger a release clause in the teen’s contract with Santos.
Chelsea assistant-boss Roberto Di Matteo watched Neymar score for Brazil against Germany last week and praised the youngster in a report to Villas-Boas.
A source at the club said: “Roberto was suitably impressed by what he saw. The kid’s a real talent.
“Real Madrid were serious about signing him but, for one reason or another, that deal broke down.
“Money talks and with a £40million offer on the table, Neymar could be a Chelsea player soon.”
Chelsea failed to net against a resilient Stoke City defence today and that may well further push Andre Villas-Boas towards making a big money move for Neymar, who appears set to leave Santos this summer. Fernando Torres did well at the Britannia Stadium but his continued inability to consistently find the back of the net will worry the Blues boss.
Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka are the club’s other experienced attacking options with Daniel Sturridge itching to get a chance of a run in the Chelsea starting eleven.
Neymar is being tracked by a number of club’s but Chelsea may be leading the chase at the moment and owner Roman Abramovich is keen to bring in a ‘marquee’ signing this summer to flex his financial muscles having seen Man City spend a fortune over the past couple of seasons.
The 19 year old Brazilian has netted an impressive 69 goals in 135 appearances for Santos and six times in ten matches for the national side.
