San Siro boss wants White Hart Lane striker?
Tottenham striker Peter Crouch is being linked with AC Milan.
Corriere dello Sport says Milan are eyeing Crouch as cover for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the Swede already suffering a new injury in recent days.
Crouch has a big reputation in Italy and has been described as Milan’s bête noire following his crucial goal in Tottenham’s 1-0 first-leg victory in last season’s Champions League last-16 tie.
Really? Crouch a back up for Zlatan Ibrahimovic? This is the same Peter Crouch who last season managed four Premier League goals in 34 matches last term, goals against Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Whilst it’s true that the lanky White Hart Lane man impressed in Champions League action there is simply no way we can imagine the England man making such a move.
Even if the deal was a loan one it still seems a stretch, especially if you factor in the other attacking talent boss Massimiliano Allegri has to call upon. Even without the mercurial Swede to lead the line the Rossoneri boss has the likes of Alexandre Pato, Antonio Cassano, Filippo Inzaghi and Robinho to call upon.
It does seem that Harry Redknapp is ready to let Crouch leave and having already seen Robbie Keane join LA Galaxy the Tottenham boss is clearly keen to re-fresh his striking options. Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe may be the main strikers that club relies on, at least until new additions can be made.
